Day 26 – Stonehenge

11 years ago, in 2014, I travelled to the UK. The one thing, above all, that I wanted to see was Stonehenge. This absolute marvel that was built 2500BC, 4000 odd years ago. What is it? Why is it there? What made it important to build? What did they do there?

I was so excited that I got to see it then. So, one of my very favourite photos came from that trip. And my amazing son was happy to recreate it for me.

Behold, my then 20 month old baby boy, standing before this most amazing place, more interested in the puddle he found. While I was jumping out of my skin excited to see this incredible place, my child could not have cared less. It really put a lot into perspective for me. Luckily, today he was a bit more interested.

I decided our last dinner in London had to be a pub meal. Fish and chips for Jacob, Steak and Ale Pie for me. Delicious.

We have had a wonderful holiday. Travelled through four amazing countries, with not nearly enough time in any of them. We have managed to see, or do, most of the things on our lists. We have grown closer as mum and son and we have a stronger bond for it. I know this kid is capable and reliable when it counts. We worked together really well. I was really worried that things were going to go horribly wrong for us, that I would not be able to do this but I have proven myself wrong.

I am sad that we are on our way home tomorrow but I am also very much looking forward to the next chapter in our lives.

Will update when we are back in Oz.
