Yesterday we moved on from London to Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is one if those places I have read about and dreamed about visiting. It holds a romantic image in my mind that I could not shake. Long before I read Outlander, Edinburgh was a place I wanted to visit. And I honestly think, if I were to ever move to the UK, it would be Edinburgh I would want to live.
We caught the train from Kings Cross station, where Jacob decided he couldn’t be bothered lining up to pretend to jump on to Platform 9 ¾. Once on the train we had a very nice trip. While Jacob didn’t want anything from the menu, I had a charcuterie box. It was delicious.

A 4.5 hour ride later we arrived in Edinburgh. It was a beautiful sunny day but the wind was freezing. We grabbed a taxi to our hotel and got settled before we went out for dinner. Dinner was at a small pizza place that was really good. Small menu with a couple of New York style or Detroit style pizza. It was perfect for a quick dinner before an early night.
We were out at 9:30 today to wander in to town and get a look around.

The only thing we had planned for today was a walking tour going over some of the darker history of the city. It was nice to be a bit directionless this morning. We stopped by Greyfriars Kirkyard and visited with Bobby.

After we explored the cemetry a bit, we walked down to the town to add to Jacob’s growing collection of Soocer jersey’s.
We got the Hop on, Hop Off bus to get an idea of where things are and we went to a place called Dynamic Earth, which was a very fun way to spend a couple of hours. We finished off there with time to grab dinner before our tour.
Tomorrow we are off to Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.
