We had a little sleep in this morning. Our train to Venice wasn’t leaving until 12:30 we had a leisurely breakfast and then packed. We checked out of our hotel (Grand Hotel Gianicolo) and got a taxi to the train station. What should have been a 20 minute ride took almost an hour. I was very grateful we had left a little bit earlier. At least on the way we got to see still more of Rome that we hadn’t seen before, including an entire other theatre (Teatro di Marcello). I had never heard of it. There is always something else to see and discover.
Once we got to the station we had to go to the ticketing office to get our tickets as I had not had them emailed to me. And that’s where the nice young Italian man gave me a heart attack and told me he couldn’t find our booking. Thankfully, after 10 minutes of looking, he found us and we were out to wait for our platform number. If you have never caught a train in Europe, there is this really fun game they play where they don’t tell you the platform number until around 10 minutes before the train arrives. Good stuff. Fortune was with us though and we were literally standing next to the platform we needed.
A four hour journey punctured with “Mum, look at that” as we passed by another random set of ruins passed by relatively quickly. We got free snacks, too.

After we arrived we found our way to our accomodation and then did the extra fun touristy thing and found a laundrette.
